A family is desperate for answers as police probe what happened to a 65-year-old man who died in the hospital after being found on the side of a Kanata road with tire marks on his broken leg.

"It's devastating," said Peter Holtby's daughter, Karri.

She has gone so far as visiting the bus stop where her father was found, looking for witnesses. She's also posted an appeal on Facebook.

"What happened? I just need to know," Karri said. "It's my dad. If I don't know what happened, I'm always going to be questioning that. I just want to know what happened."

Holtby was found lying at Chimo Dr. and Katimavik Rd., just minutes from his home, at around 4:17 p.m. on April 22.

He was disoriented when found, telling police and paramedics that he was a diabetic and his leg hurt. He'd been dizzy at work, at the Department of National Defence, so he had taken the bus home early, his daughter later learned.
