Rob Ford’s assessment of rehab as “amazing” might not be so great, says a Toronto psychologist.
“You should feel miserable in rehab because you’re being forced to face things about yourself and your life that you never wanted to face,” Dr. Oren Amitay, who has a downtown practice, said Wednesday.
He added parts of what Ford has described about his experience — from group sessions to working out — is not “inconsistent” with rehab.
“It’s very possible that he is in a centre,” Amitay said, adding that having a cellphone is unusual in most rehab facilities.
“For them to allow calls to constituents or (Councillor) Denzil Minnan-Wong, which are not real emergencies or business, I do question how hardcore they’re going to be with respect to getting him to really straighten up,” he said.
