EDMONTON -- Two brothers are dead after a single-vehicle crash in northern Alberta on Saturday.

Police say alcohol and a lack of seatbelts may have been factors in the crash on Range Road 130 near Goodfish Lake that killed Jordan Lee Cardinal, 23, and Christopher David Cardinal, 33.

Their younger brother, Tarik Cardinal, 18, was driving the vehicle.

He was taken to hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Police say he was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Smoky Lake RCMP, St. Paul RCMP, and Vilna EMS and firefighters responded to the crash around 8 p.m. and the two passengers were pronounced dead on scene.

The investigation is ongoing.

Goodfish Lake is about 160 km northeast of Edmonton.
