CALGARY -- The world has lost an adventurous soul, say friends of a young B.C. woman who died following a canoe accident that also left three males missing.

Lily Harmer-Taylor, 19, and three friends had travelled the 6 km from Rosebery, B.C., to New Denver, B.C., on Slocan Lake by canoe on Saturday.

In New Denver, Harmer-Taylor saw her friend Maisie Brekke, 17.

"Lily came up to me and gave me a big hug," Brekke said.

The two chatted briefly before parting ways. Harmer-Taylor and her crew would later be headed back to Rosebery in the canoe.
