TORONTO — Allegations of a third Ontario Liberal candidate making sexist comments online have been raised by the NDP.

But the 25-year-old insists the NDP is simply trying to distract from the issues in the election campaign with "partisan drama."

"They must have been looking pretty hard," rookie candidate Nick Steinburg said of the NDP scouring his social media accounts.

Steinburg posted a tweet that made light of sexually harassing “ladies,” an NDP statement says.

“On Feb. 10, 2014, Steinburg posted to his Twitter account: ‘Oh that’s just my two-days-after-leg-day swagger. You know how we do. Cashin’ cheques. mackin’ on ladies. and havin’ trouble with stairs,’” the NDP quotes.

But Steinburg, interviewed at his campaign office Tuesday, said he made the post via a private Twitter account that was deactivated weeks before he became the Grit choice for London West last Thursday, after the campaign began.
