CALGARY -- Dozens of dogs living in squalid conditions were seized Tuesday from the home of a well-known breeder.

Neighbour and acquaintance Joanne Leussink made the horrific discovery, entering the home to find the animals living amongst layers of feces and urine.

"It's just unbelievable in there," said Leussink, who said she knew the home's owner Bev Creed for 15 years from a long career as a dog breeder and groomer

"By the time I went quickly room to room to see, my eyes were burning and my throat was just gagging. All I did was cry and said 'I have to get those dogs out of there, I have to get them all.'"

A short time after the shocking discovery, police arrived and quickly called in the fire department and officials from the Calgary Humane Society.

Creed, who has not been charged, was not at the home but another neighbour, who asked not to be named, said he saw her at the home within the last couple of days.
