CALGARY - If you go out in the Kootenay National Park woods today, coming across a family of bruins should come as no surprise.

A barrage of bear sightings, most of them mother bears with their offspring in tow, have officials in the B.C. park just southwest of Banff warning of the potential for some close encounters.

With young ursine families exploring fields of dandelions alongside area highways, motorists are being asked to keep a close eye for bears and heed posted speed limits, especially near the south end of Kootenay National Park on Hwy. 93.
