A Lebanese-Canadian member of the terrorist group Hezbollah was killed in an ambush in Syria on Monday, local groups report.
Fawzi Ayoub, 48, was listed on the FBI's most wanted terrorists list. He was indicted in 2009 in the U.S. for "willfully and knowingly" using a fake American passport to gain entry into Israel to set off a bomb.
The website all4syria.info reported Ayoub was a prominent leader in Hezbollah. He was killed when members of the Free Syrian Army attacked him in the city of Aleppo.
Ayoub has family in Toronto. He moved to the city in 1988 and received his citizenship in 1992. He then moved to Michigan before returning to Lebanon in 2000.
