CFB PETAWAWA, Ont. ─ In a poignant ceremony of dignity, honour and parade precision, family, friends and comrades paid their final respects to Lt.-Col. Dan Bobbitt Wednesday afternoon.

Pallbearers flanked a 25-pounder Howitzer and carriage, which carried the casket of the commanding officer of the 2nd Regiment, Royal Canadian Horse Artillery (2RCHA) to the service. Pulling the carriage was a G-Wagon bearing the red over blue coloured pennant symbolizing his appointment as the regiment's 33rd commanding officer. Marching behind was a 60-man escort made up personnel from the artillery unit.

Bobbit was killed last week when the light armoured vehicle (LAVIII) he was riding in rolled over during a major exercise in Wainwright, Alta. Four other soldiers were injured in the mishap.
