OTTAWA -- Justin Trudeau has played his pro-choice card to discourage a former Liberal cabinet minister from running in an Ottawa-area riding - a smack-down that stacks the odds in favour of the Grit leader's chosen one.

With Gar Knutson out of the running in Ottawa-Orleans because of his anti-abortion work within the Catholic Church, Trudeau's pick to run for the Liberals, Andrew Leslie, is now more likely to secure the nomination over David Bertschi.

And QMI Agency has learned that Bertschi, a former leadership aspirant and lawyer, has already been the target of a campaign to discredit him.
