Ornge air ambulance has been charged with 17 Canadian Labour Code violations stemming from a horrific helicopter crash that killed two pilots and two paramedics a year ago Saturday.

A numbered company connected to Ornge is accused of failing to provide pilots with the necessary training and equipment to fly safely at night, resulting in their deaths.

The charges were laid on Thursday, two days before the one-year anniversary of the May 31, 2013 helicopter crash that took the lives of Capt. Don Filliter, of Skead, First Officer Jacques Dupuy, of Otterburn-Park, Que., and paramedics Dustin Dagenais, of Moose Factory and Chris Snowball, of Burlington.
