HAMILTON ─ If voters want a party that will respect their pocketbooks, they need only look to the NDP to deliver it ─ without the massive job cuts, Andrea Horwath said Saturday.

The NDP leader made the pitch just after she cast her ballot at an advance poll – which are open provincewide until June 6 – in her riding, Hamilton Centre.

Calling the Liberals "corrupt" and slagging the Progressive Conservatives "backward jobs plan," she said the only real alternative is the New Democrats.

"This election really is about what kind of Ontario we want," she said. "Kathleen Wynne and the Liberals have spent more time using your money to protect their interests than delivering for you. And Mr. Hudak is not the kind of leadership this province needs."

Horwath also took at shot at the Liberals for the MaRS bailout. The NDP wants a deeper investigation into the simmering scandal, she said.

"We've asked the auditor general to look into what's really gone on there," she said. "It sure looks like another typical Liberal scandal, quite frankly."
