EDMONTON - A senior who was struck by a pickup truck at a marked crosswalk on Saturday afternoon, died in hospital on Sunday.

A 73-year-old female was crossing a marked crosswalk at the 95 Avenue and 170 Street intersection around 4:20 p.m. on Saturday when police say a Toyota Tundra -- turning right from 95 Avenue into the merge lane that connects southbound 170 Street -- struck her, leaving a dent in the front bumper of the truck.

Ambulance crews treated the woman on scene and transported her to hospital where she later died in the early morning hours on Sunday.

"This is an unfortunate reminder for motorists and pedestrians to always look out for one other on the roadways," said acting Staff Sgt. Gary Lamont with the EPS Traffic Section, in a press release.
