TORONTO — Madi Vanstone — the 12 year-old Beeton, Ont. girl who needs wonder drug Kalydeco to survive — fears she has been given the run-around by Health Minister Deb Matthews prior to Thursday’s election.

Madi’s mom, Beth, said she was told that there is no signed agreement between the drug manufacturer and the Ontario government, which makes her doubt the assurances she received from Matthews in a June 3 phone call that Madi would be getting good news on the funding “within weeks.”

Matthews told Vanstone she should be celebrating and the only thing holding up the deal was “logistics.”

Since then she’s heard nothing from the health ministry.
