OTTAWA - A Buckingham couple is taking their battle with the Golden Arches to cyberspace after they were allegedly handed a tainted milkshake — which their young son ingested — after placing a drive-thru order in English.

“I can’t think of any other reason why,” said Jon Hansen.

“Why would they pick us? Why would they pick a small shake that’s obviously meant for a child?”

A petition has been created on Change.org — with nearly 1,000 signatures — pressuring McDonald’s Canada to hand over the test results from the beverage sample.

“We still don’t understand why they won’t release it to us,” said Hansen.

The incident took place July 22, 2013 around 3 p.m. at 1003 Chemin de Masson.

Hansen said he repeated his order three times to the young employees, whom he alleges made a derogatory comment about “cursed English.”
