Residents along Henderson Highway near Lockport may have a feeling of deja vu starting Monday when they see Arvid Loewen cycle by their homes again and again.

Loewen plans to ride a 27-km loop along Henderson from East St. Paul to Lockport and back 370 times in under 23 days, starting at 10 a.m. on Monday.

"I'm going to get pretty familiar with that route," Loewen, 57, said with a chuckle on Thursday.

Loewen will try to break the Guinness World Record for the fastest person to cycle 10,000 kilometres. He needs to do it in under 22 days, 15 hours, 34 minutes and nine seconds -- a mark set in the Netherlands by Guus Moonen in 2010.

"I will try to get by on three hours of sleep, so I'll be off the bike somewhere between 12 and 4 a.m.," said Loewen, who'll have a 24/7 support group based at 5839 Henderson Hwy.
