TORONTO - Online classified site Kijiji has reached out to Toronto Police with an offer to help catch a thief who allegedly snatched a woman’s pup after posing as a dog trainer.

Shawn McIntyre, community relations manager for Kijiji Canada, said that officials with the popular Internet ad site contacted investigators within 24 hours of a story breaking Wednesday that detailed the daytime dognapping of a woman’s five-month-old Cane Corso.

It was in the early afternoon of June 5 that the woman and her dog met a man at Sunnybrook Park in the Bayview Ave. and Blythwood Rd. area. According to police, the man had advertised himself on Kijiji as a dog trainer.

After a short talk with the woman, the man — described as brown skinned with dark hair and around 6 feet tall with possible acne scares — grabbed the dog and ran to a waiting pickup truck.
