CALGARY - Four people were sent to hospital following a crash in the southeast Sunday police say was a result of speeding.

Police were called to the intersection of 52 St. and 61 Ave. S.E. shortly before 1 a.m. where they said a BMW ran a red light and drove into the path of a southbound Honda Odyssey.

Both occupants of the BMW were thrown from the car.

Passengers of the BMW and Honda sustained serious injuries.

The drivers of the BMW and Honda sustained minor injuries.

All were taken to hospital.

Police say speed appears to have been a factor in the crash.
