CALGARY -- Police on Sunday taped off an area north of an Airdrie, Alta., acreage they've been searching in the disappearance of a Calgary family, but dismantled the scene a few hours later.

Police ended up at the sprawling rural property Friday night after following up on a tip about a green Ford F-150 seen in the Parkhill area of Calgary the night Alvin and Kathryn Liknes and their five-year-old grandson, Nathan O'Brien, disappeared.

Nathan had been staying with his grandparents overnight after they held an estate sale at their home.

When his mother arrived to pick him up the morning of June 30, neither he nor his grandparents were there.

Police later said there were signs of violence in the home. An Amber Alert was issued and remains in effect.
