OTTAWA — After a strong midsummer byelection showing, Justin Trudeau's Liberals are holding on to a narrow lead over Stephen Harper's Conservatives in the latest Abacus Data poll provided exclusively to QMI Agency.
The Liberals have the support of 34% of committed voters across the country compared to 31% for the Conservatives and 23% for Thomas Mulcair's New Democrats.
Support from committed voters was unchanged compared to March except for the Conservatives, who saw support jump three percentage points.
Abacus also found the Liberals continue to draw support from former Conservative and NDP voters.
The poll also confirms sharp regional differences in political preference that are sure to affect the strategies of each party as they prepare for a fall 2015 election with new riding boundaries in the most populous parts of the country.
