Luck was on the side of four people who were in a small plane when it crashed in B.C. last Friday.

B.C. RCMP said Tuesday its West Coast Marine Service members happened to be in Shearwater, near Bella Bella, when they heard a float plane had crashed and was on fire.

An inflatable fast response vessel reached the scene within half an hour, and the victims received immediate medical attention before being transported to hospital.

The RCMP said a fishing charter boat with six doctors on board also happened to be in the area.

The aircraft was burned beyond recovery, police say, and was located just above the high tide line.
