TORONTO -- A Toronto-bound Air Canada flight from Edmonton made a safe landing Sunday morning following a mayday call from the plane's crew.
According to Air Canada spokesman Isabelle Arthur, an emergency was declared aboard the Airbus 320 -- which was carrying 87 passengers, two pilots and four flight attendants -- after the crew noticed a flight control indication light had come on.
The plane landed safely at Toronto's Pearson airport and was inspected by maintenance crews, Arthur said. No further details about what triggered the light to come on were made available Sunday afternoon.
Several passengers took to social media following the incident, thanking the crew for their handling of the situation.
"Thanks to the amazing crew of flight AC1174 and ground crew," said Debbie Williams via Twitter. "My first and hopefully my only emergency landing. Still a little shaky."
