CALGARY -- A teenage boy died on the job at a gravel-crushing operation near Saturday.

Family has identified the deceased as 15-year-old Christopher Lawrence, who was a relatively new employee of Arjon Construction in Drumheller, about 100 km northeast of Calgary.

Occupational Health and Safety spokeswoman Kim Misik said the young man "became entangled in a conveyor and suffered fatal injuries" sometime before noon. He died at the scene.

Lawrence's grandmother, Doreen Mardian, said he'd been there a month or so, travelling from home in Innisfail, about 150 km away.
