OTTAWA - OTTAWA — Police are investigating after someone wore a helmet camera and raced a motorbike through the pedestrian tunnels at Carleton University.

The video, which was posted to YouTube, shows the bike reached speeds of nearly 80 km/h as it sped through the narrow, subterranean tunnel system.

The footage has since been taken down.

Nobody was injured and police said they never received any complaints — which they would require to investigate on the university’s private property.

On Monday, the university asked police to investigate.

Const. Chuck Benoit said the suspect, if caught, could face dangerous driving charges, but it would be more serious if there had been complaints.

“That said, the public should contact us if they have information,” he said, adding the suspect should turn himself in instead, which would change the way investigators handle the case.

University spokesman Steven Reid said one of the school’s own special constables already conducted an investigation and handed the file over to police.
