EDMONTON - EDMONTON -- Albertans can start ordering the new "Support Our Troops" license plate on Wednesday, announced provincial Culture Minister Heather Klimchuk.

Joined by 3rd Canadian Division commander Brig.-Gen. Wayne Eyre at the K-Days festival grounds on Tuesday, Klimchuk said the new plate will replace the placeholder plate announced by former Service Alberta Minister Manmeet Bhullar last fall.

"Our troops deserve our recognition as they sacrifice so much for the values that we hold so dear," said Klimchuk.

The sky-blue plate features a photo illustration design by professional military photographer Silvia Pecota entitled "Fallen Comrades of the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry" that honours the first four Alberta-based troops killed in combat in Afghanistan in 2002.
