MONTREAL — Quebec provincial police said Wednesday they plan to seize the lead locomotive in the Lac-Megantic freight-train disaster before it can be auctioned off.

Investigators continue their criminal probe into the derailment and explosion that killed 47 people last July in Canada's deadliest railway blast.

An MMA train engineer and two colleagues face dozens of counts of criminal negligence causing death.
