The Liberals have written Ethics Commissioner Mary Dawson asking her to re-open the investigation into suspended Sen. Mike Duffy now that the Mounties have charged the former broadcaster.

MP Geoff Regan wants Dawson to re-visit the $90,000 payment to Duffy from Prime Minister Stephen Harper's former chief of staff, Nigel Wright, and others cited in court documents.

In court filings, the RCMP refer to 11 Conservatives — many who have since left Parliament Hill — mentioned in the Senate expense scandal.

In June 2013, Dawson suspended her investigation after the RCMP said it was launching one of its own.

Her office didn't appear too keen Wednesday on reinstating the probe.

Last week Duffy was charged with 31 counts of fraud and breach of trust, including one count of bribery.

He says he's looking forward to clearing his name at trial.

His first court date is set for Sept. 16.
