CALGARY — Calgary police have sent detectives to Mexico in relation to the investigation surrounding a missing family presumed murdered.

Police won't release any details of the trip other than to say there are no additional suspects or persons of interest in the case.

Last month cops announced they believe Alvin and Kathryn Liknes and the couple's five-year-old grandson Nathan O'Brien were murdered, though no bodies have been found.

The family was reported missing from the Liknes' Calgary home June 30.

Douglas Garland has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of second-degree murder in the case.

The Likneses had sold their home in Calgary and were reportedly planning to move to Edmonton before relocating to Mazatlan, Mexico, with future plans to return to Edmonton.
