TORONTO -- While a patient in Brampton is being tested for the Ebola virus, the province's health minister says Ontario's health care system is "prepared and ready to contain and treat any potential case of Ebola."

In a statement released late Friday, Dr. Eric Hoskins said that lessons learned from the SARS epidemic have resulted in hospitals "fully equipped to deal with any potential cases of Ebola."

The unidentified patient was admitted to Brampton Civic Hospital emergency on Friday with fever, headache and malaise. Brampton is a suburb northwest of Toronto.
