4.1 earthquake hits central Alberta

EDMONTON -- Power crews were busy Saturday responding to outages in Clearwater County, in central Alberta, after an earthquake shook areas near of Rocky Mountain House.

The quake happened 10 km east/northeast of the town at around 9:30 a.m., according to Natural Resources Canada, and had a magnitude of 4.1 on the Richter scale.

According to initial reports, it was lightly felt in Rocky Mountain House but no reports of damage or injury were made.

Clearwater Regional Fire Rescue Services tweeted that it was responding to several calls following the event, while Fortis Alberta's website said between five and 50 customers had to deal with power outages as a result of the quake.
