TORONTO - Mayor Rob Ford was more worried about everybody else’s safety.
When I got him on the phone, that was his focus.
“I didn’t want to take any chances,” he said Monday of why his camp decided to call police to deal with the latest threat against him.
It was different this time — not the usual suggestion about how his life was in danger.
This time the e-mailer talked of blowing up City Hall if the embattled civic leader didn’t resign as mayor.
“I didn’t want to create panic,” said the mayor in an interview. “But I am taking it as a serious situation and I certainly didn’t want anybody in danger because of somebody going after me.” The police are investigating.
“They are not telling me much but I hope they find whoever is behind this,” said the mayor. “It’s just not right.”
