Mayor Rob Ford says people without jobs do not require transit.

Ford made the bizarre comment during his speech at his Etobicoke campaign headquarters on Tuesday while explaining that the economy was the biggest issue of the 2014 election campaign.

“If you haven’t got a job, you won’t need transit,” Ford said. “If you cannot leave your house to go to or look for a job, what’s the sense in having transit?

“Transit is essential but we need a job to use transit to go to and from your job and to go looking for a job.”
