OTTAWA — Public Health and Tim Hortons are both investigating after a pill was found lodged into a Timbit bought at a city Tim Hortons on Wednesday.

Gillian Macdonald, 20, and her friends found the tiny tablet lodged in a sour cream glazed after buying a box of the treats from the Tim Hortons at Cooper and Bank streets.

"We were completely in shock," Macdonald said.

The group ate about five Timbits before finding the pill.

"We are taking this very seriously," company spokeswoman Michelle Robichaud said. "The safety of our guests is very important to us and as such, we have significant control measures in place to assure their wellbeing. Because our investigation is ongoing, we have nothing further to share at this point in time."

Ottawa's Public Health was to conduct tests to identify the beige pill.

It was also investigating the rest of the Timbits in the box.
