The Montreal World Film Festival will not be showing a Luka Magnotta documentary after all.

Less than one week before it was to be screened, organizers decided that the viewing of Sex, Fame & Murder: The Luka Magnotta Story will not be shown. There are concerns that the film, which includes interviews with people who were a part of the investigation, might violate a publication ban.

"We took the decision to remove the film from our programming so that it won't be a pretext for justice to be rendered in the fairest way possible," said the festival's director of communications, Lison Lescarbeau, in a statement to the media.

Bell Media announced earlier this week that they would be pulling the documentary from a scheduled airing on French channel Canal D.

Magnotta is accused of killing and dismembering Jun Lin, a Chinese student who was living in Montreal. Magnotta's trial begins on Sept. 8.
