TORONTO — If this doesn't give her a rise in the polls...

Toronto mayor candidate Sarah Thomson is promising to hand out free Viagra to low-income seniors as part of her five ways to build a "happy city" plan.

Along with free Viagra, Thomson wants “play streets” where traffic would be limited to a walking pace, and "extensive" martial arts training for all Toronto Police officers.

"The goal of Toronto's next mayor should be to make our residents happier, more fulfilled and more active," Thomson stated in a press release. "It is time to tackle the stress and frustration that politicians use to divide our city.

"Stress in seniors can cause erectile dysfunction, leading to more stress and creating very unhappy citizens.”

She said the idea comes from Mexico City, where former Mayor Marcelo Ebrard created a program that gave low-income men free Viagra through medical clinics.

Thomson is well behind front-runners in the Toronto mayoral race, including current Mayor Rob Ford.
