Saskatoon Police and four people had to take cover behind a parked truck in order to avoid being shot by a man barricaded in a house last week.

On Thursday, police released video of how the scene unfolded on Aug. 22. In the video, which includes footage shot from a helicopter and officers talking over the scanner, police can be heard saying shots have been fired in the house several times.

The four people who took cover behind the police van were inside the home, but managed to escape.

"The police rescue vehicle was utilized to safely rescue the people from the scene and protect members of the tactic support unit from further rounds. The police rescue vehicle and the parked vehicle were hit with rounds," police said in a release.

Police were able to successfully negotiate with the man and he turned himself over at 10 p.m.
