Just came back from Cancun. Took the family and will continue to visit that area. When people say to methat I am crazy going to Mexico I have to remind them that they must be glad that people dont boycott Canada because of the riots after the Stanley cup in Vancouver.

No. Too dangerous and when you need help, it's not there.

Belize is nicer, the people speak English and it's safe there.

out of the millions of canadian tourists that travel to mexico every year, a handful are victimized. this is not a reason to boycott the country, these things happen everywhere. did anyone stop to think the media might have a hand in downplaying violence elsewhere and exaggerating violence in mexico? violence in the cities is completely different than your chances of violence on a resort.

STOP BELIEVING EVERY SINGLE WORD THE MEDIA TELLS YOU. remember they are profit machines too

I think some people are under the impression that "Flirting" with the locals is harmless. That's where the problems start as most locals translate "Flirting" to "I'm going to get some". Add a large amount of booze, drugs, bump and grind music and the margin of error goes up exponentially.

I've seen it time and time again at each and every resort I've been to in Mexico. Someone's girlfriend/wife has been dancing a little too close to some local at a night club and now he's angry.

Remember... the signals that you throw out may not mean anything to you, but in the context of a different culture the whole meaning of "Flirting" changes.

Only 1 month until spring break... Let the gong show begin

No. For various reasons, escalating levels of violence. We get sick every time we go. Finding the people resentful less friendly.

I will continue to vacation almost anywhere but Mexico.

Wow, been there so many times with the kids'.

Never had any problems, Also my wife and I spend 4 years in Germany from there we travel to Spain Rome Greece France etc... And almost every were there is crimes. I' m from Montreal and believe me when I said that you don’t want to be alone in some area and it is the same in Toronto.

Doesn’t matter where you are in the world, a bar fight = trouble, showing you’re money around = problem, be naked at 2:00 = problem any place on this planet. Here in Barrie last year a man got beat up to death in front of his son at an indoor mini golf for no reason they where drunk and stone not in Mexico here in Ontario. How many stories of crime in Canada that we don’t know so please you don’t want to enjoy Mexico that is your choice but please stop the complaining and do something to make our Canada a better place to live, Because here half of the people drive while texting or in winter drive around with all the windows cover with snow, both of them are crime with fine. Do you know why you don’t get the fine because the cops are to busy with crime yes the same crime that they have in Mexico. Ho by the way my next vacation is on a cruise… oh my god one just sink last month I should plan something else like going to Vancouver no they didn’t catch all the As…..le for the riot last year wow even in Canada it not safe.
