My thoughts on this topic is yes it would help and most certainly send a message that it won't be tolerated if and only if these individuals are immigrants to our country and that found guilty we deport them as well as their families. That would work because their families would definitely be more involved in what their kids are into.

I have watched as after a big gang bust (almost always black youths) the courtrooms are crowded with relatives who hiss at others in the courtroom, disrupt the court proceedings with cries of racism(see above statement) because their angel was caught with a gun or drugs or sexually assaulting a muslim girl in school washrooms)! Oh yes Racism has become a very useful tool for these thugs and their families to escape any responsibility for the crimes! And our courts and judiciary have bought into this folly, by kowtowing to this sector of our populace,by granting bail not just once but twice in the case of Andre Blair who was out on two bails two!,bails when he coldbloodedly murdered Andrew Latouche. This is a common practice to let thugs with guns out on bails(but with the "strictest conditions" these same courts bleat when they are asked why this thug was out on bail! Our legal system is a joke which dances to the tune of blackself annointed activists.

Honestly ppl do you really think i was trying to say the gangs were arrested because they were BLACK..Ok...stay with me this time..racism is not an excuse it is a fact...it has weakened the very fabric of humanity from the beginning of time...this is not new ppl.IT IS EVERYWHERE...it's not just with BLACKS.....it with everybody....I do not feel sorry for the gangbangers nor do i wish to defend them. One of the most frightening aspects of this investigation is the way a gang can operate at an international airport in such a manner. Never have we paid so much for security in Canada and received so little in return. There should be a serious inquiry in to how such people can get hired in an international airport and by whom. How are the illegal items (no doubt including illegal firearms) removed from the baggage containers and carried out of the airport. Is there no surveillance? Are there no cameras watching staff. Is there no periodic inspections of what staff is taking from airport property? In a time of terrorists, we have (alleged) criminals working in airports. What a plan!!

Racism is a really lazy excuse. Personally I have known many more succussful blacks than unsuccessful.
I think it is more a problem of knowing their options, if they don't see anything but drugs and violence they won't pursue those otheropportunities, and we're all the worse for it.
I really hope for all of us that this community can help show their children there are other better choices available.
Will this week's gang arrests help curb Toronto's problem with youth violence?
