Robert Dziekanski’s mother has filed a lawsuit alleging excessive force and “cruel and unusual” treatment by the four RCMP officers who stunned her son with a Taser.
I suggest that anyone in conflict with the police who do not wish them to use tasers instead of guns should simply advise them of that.

This issue is an open and shut case to me. People who break laws and then resist law enforcement officers can expect to get tased. The other option is far less appealing, and we all know how that ends. Tasers are a TOOL that law enforcement officials use to subdue unruly people. If you do not wish to be tased then I would suggest co-operating with the police. It's that simple! Police (at least in this area of the country) do not abuse their use of tasers. These people have split seconds to react to potentially dangerous situations, with one of two options; tase an unruly and potentially violent individual which temporarily subdues, OR draw a firearm and permanently subdue. It seems pretty clear that given the choice, most are not willing to take a life, even when their own is in danger. To everyone that disagrees with me, throw on a police uniform and throw yourself into some of the situations that these officers see day after day and see if you change your views.
