Do police rely too heavily on Tasers? Fri, June 19, 2009
Robert Dziekanski’s mother has filed a lawsuit alleging excessive force and “cruel and unusual” treatment by the four RCMP officers who stunned her son with a Taser.
check this web page out people, then tell me if tazers are being used to much, http://www.apfn.org/apfn/camps.htm should be interesting what tomorrow will bring.

Twatty hasn't offered anything but drivel to this forum in the time I've been here.
Briceofiction is the local cut and paste NWO foil hat wearing freak, posting Twatty like drivel over and over.
Smart in Twatty's book I guess...

heavens no..they only use them when your back is turned, when you are on the ground, or if there are 4 of them and you have a stapler or an eraser...watch them get away with another murder

Noy, those staples hurt like anything!
Jerry, 2009-02-24 10:47:22
last time i checked none lethal, meant couldn't kill, well if we can't get by that lie then how can we ever see truth, if a weapon kills even one person its lethal. nothing in the way of a weapon is lethal unless used in a careless way. if people don't wake up, soon everyone will feel the use of tazors, just type prison planet in a search, again wake up people.

Grow up NtD AKA SAF and stop with the name calling.
If that is all you have to offer to a serious discussion then just go away and post on FD where they allow your sort of behaviour against smart posters like Bruce

Hey Drewski,
I'm 5'11" with no Police training but a wrestling background. I used to work security, I have been in many viloent altercations, never did I hurt someone and never was I hurt. I used tact and brains as well as strength to subdue. Don't give me the 4 on 1 could have gotten out of hand and most of you don't know BS. They have shank resistant/bullet proof vests, I'm sorry but that stapler and that out of shape older man was not going to hurt any of those officers that day.

BrucetheIDIOT, statistically, is an IDIOT and re-re-posted:
"Statistically the police services in Canada have had a 7% increase in the number of times they have discharged their sidearms in the line of duty from 1990 to 2007 resulting in a 5% increse in civilian fatalitys over that period.
The intruduction of the tasers in 2002 DID NOT, and HAS NOT lowered the number of times a policeperson has resorted to the use of lethal force, (their guns) so the use of the tasers has not in anyway protected the public."
Well, Brucey, the population increased 20% between 1990 and 2007.
The bad guys are more likely (by a factor MUCH larger that 7% between 1990 and 2007) to possess and use firearms. As usual, Brucey, your re-re-post is meaningless and irrelevant except to offer proof of the exact opposite of what you intended. Is that another example of "irony"?

The point the Canadian public and press is missing with regards to the death of Mr. Dziekanski is that there were four fully armed, bullet proof vest wearing RCMP officers sent to arrest one unarmed man. Prior to the 80's RCMP officers carried only a sidearm and were trained to use their brains and brawn to deal with someone causing a disturbance. At some point it was decided by the national police force that university graduates would make better police officers. As a result of that policy it became necessary to give members all sorts of equipment like the tazer so that they would not have to get their hands dirty. As an past member of the RCMP it is embarrassing to watch the video of Mr. Dziekanski's tazering by four officers and leaves me wondering if this is the type of training they get today are any of us really safe.

If it keeps the other injuries down then certainly they are a great tool. Unfortunately the officers using the tasers use them when they are not needed as I witnessed Toronto Police taser a man on a stretcher tied down and hand cuffed who couldn't hurt a fly. The Sargent tasered this guy twice in the neck. Excessive force for sure, but it is the officers who are frustrated by the system because the criminal after being arrested is back on the street in less than 48 hrs!
