WHAT WERE THEY SUPPOSED TO USE, HARSH LANGUAGE! THEIR ACTIONS HARMED NOBODY, MORE IMPORTANTLY SAVED THE LIFE OF AN INNOCENT BABY. SO MUCH IS BEING TAKEN AWAY FROM THE POLICE THESE DAYS IT'S AMAZING THAT THEY ARE STILL ABLE TO DO THEIR JOBS.

The mother was mentally distraught the critically ill baby was in desperate need of medical attention which the mother could not give, social workers and police tried to talk to her and after 3 hours the tazer was applied in a manner that would not injure either the baby or the mother .... the police did the right thing.. both the mother and the child will now get the care that they need.

Instead they assaulted her, forcing her to give up her baby.

I guess tasers must be 100% safe now, ans therefore should be availale at Walmart? Once the first police officer dies from a tasering, then there will be a proper review on their safety and use. Until then, the police will continue to hold internal reviews, where they are always deemed to properly used.

Tweetypie, My comment regarding the immigrant in the Vancouver Airport was never meant to be funny. It was a statement of facts from a Security Officer who, while in the Academy, was trained to do much the same things that Police Officers are trained to do.

My comments were meant to educated the ignorant and arrogant public who see what they want to see and don't look at the facts before blaming Police Officers for deaths that, although unfortunate, occurred in the line of duty by Police Officers doing exactly what they were trained to do with the tools that they had inflicted upon themselves before they are even allowed to carry!

For your information, and to educate all the other ignorant people out there who actually still think that these deaths are actually due to the use of tazers need to do some research! Most of those deaths attributed to use of tazers were ACTUALLY a result of a condition known as "POSITIONAL ASPHYXIA" which is a form of suffocation that occurs when someone's position prevents them from breathing adequately. It usually causes the death of people who are restrained while in a face down position (which is a position required for handcuffing by Police Officers, Corrections Officers, and sometimes in restraining patients by some healthcare staff). This condition has also been found to result in people who are drunk and pass-out in a face down position...

The only time the POLICIA use hand to hand tactics is when they are dealing with women and other very weak individuals. Like the poor girl on WHyte avenue celebrating the oilers win. The good officer used a head stun on her and then smashed her face into the cement sidewalk. I respect that officer... he is a real man for sure. In Edmonton our finest even wake up sleeping vagrants with tasers...and get off with a stern talking too.

This kind of police behavoir will only make thier jobs harder...ppl will be less likely to help the police when recquired, less ppl will sign up for the forces, and criminals will fight even harder when they realize that they are likely to be abused at the hands of these mental midgets.

If tasers were so safe we all could buy them at the Zellers store to discipline our kids with...even the POLICIA think using them instead of a physical beating is the better choice. They have a new favourite toy and they use it with the same enthusiaim and exhuberence that a small child would!!

Funny that u don't hear of Hells angels bikers getting taken down like this. The POLICIA know that if they did this type of thing to an HA those four officers would have gotten hurt very badly.

I caught the video on tv again this evening.I have seen it so many times now and to me it seems like the mounties just couldn't wait to use their little toy as in Scarfaces "welcome to my lil friend".His mother's lawyer a former mountie says every cop in Canada should be so ashamed.I concur with that reasoning.Then to compound the problem they give it all a whitewash.Now the Premier has added his support.Is everyone in la la land on the weed??????

An 82 year old man who has had heart surgery and is in his hospital bed is tasered not once but three times.Wonderful.A simple slap of a baton on his wrist would have sufficed but oh no better to torture the man who is simply seen as a specimen rather than a human being.Just as a Polish man in B.C. was surrounded by four of our finest so-called who seemed to see him as somekind of a threat and tasered him too repeatedly resulting in his death.Now it appears that tasers are really very dangerous weapons and not the safe tools that their manufacturer would have us believe.
