Does Earth Hour actually help the environment?
Fri, March 25, 2011

Do you plan on sitting in the dark this Saturday night?

Around the world, people will make the symbolic gesture of showing they support a cleaner world and lower-carbon lifestyle by raising their carbon output.

Earth Hour, started in 2007, encourages people to show their support for the planet by turning their lights off and enjoying the world by candlelight. The problem, of course, is for most Canadians that means turning off a low-carbon energy source and burning pure fossil fuels.

The absurdity is likely lost on most professional environmentalists.

One question...

How does being forced to go green by using less harmful gases because of a carbon tax lose us jobs? People will adapt, like Wayne said. Being forced to, thus, focus on that 'green' energy would actually create more jobs, eventually. After all people are needed to work an 'eco-station' because I certainly don't think it's going to run itself.

As usual Twitless tries to sit on both sides of a fence at once. The idiot wants fuel consumption to drop and at the same time the GST removed from gasoline. Typical muddled thought that ONLY Twitless thinks is coherent. As I have said the carbon tax is just another government ploy to pick our pockets-it will go into general revenues and be wasted.

Oh tweety, what does ginsing have to do with a carbon tax oh on topic guy?
wayne, 2008-02-28 21:52:09

Matt we will never have the prosperity we have today. We have lived a sheltered life for too long. Other countries offerto do the same work canadians do for a fraction of the price and sell it to us cheaper and we scoop up the cheap prices. Oh they are cheaper because we don't add the carbon tax of transportation. So if we add that carbon tax to them, they won't be as cheap and hey, maybe we make them here instead.

Tweety guide me to your stats, i have never heard them. But once again you have made them up.

Rad Lorrie Goldstein's Sun article toay. Once again the social engineers (environmentalists) had to eat big crow today. Once again REAL science has stated that contrary to popular belief, the increase in hurricane strength had nothing to do with global warming.

Gory Al certainly wont given back his Nobel.

It has been stated earlier about how pseudo-scientists hasve been foretelling the doom and gllom will come if we dont change. Remember aerosols.. everyone had to stop using them or we would instantly start to burn.

Gues what.. the ozone that according to science should have depleted by now is still intact.

Weak minds (liberals) get suckered by ever weaker minds... environmentalists

Maybe we should introduce tweety to Robert Latimer... that might be interesting...
powell, 2008-02-28 21:23:18

agreed Matt I too know and respect many lefties. The vocal ones here are not indicitive of the masses I know. I just detest them making the broad generalizations they make. And well tweedledumb...well she just lies and makes up stories, mostly irrelevant however still somewhat frusterating.

Her insistance that Campbell is a drunk only solidifies her hatred of others.

tweety,

It wouldn't be a carbon tax on booze, it would be a sin tax.

We already have very high sin taxes on tobacco and booze.
