The disgraceful situation is how this woman and her boss stole so much money. Guilty !

Greetings,

I believe that Brenda's plea of ignorance rings hollow, she was smiling with confidence when she was crowned jailhouse queen???? in Mexico. Why was she not crying then.

I believe that she is a classic merchant of baloney.

A good representative of Canadian drug runners, money launderers and other Canadian violaters of foreign jurisprudence.

CBC is a frequent less than objective supporter of many people like her.

Known associates of criminals who plead ignorance and expect Canadian taxpayers to pay for their frequently insulting, bad behavior.

Brenda at least should be tried for either criminal association or gross stupidity.

Regards

International traveller

Our federal Government sat on its hands being the tough guy for two years while this Canadian Woman languished in appaling conditions in a Mexican jail. Now they are running every which way doing damage control. Lets face it, they are now embarrased. This is a disgraceful situation that Canadians must not forget come election time.

This woman's case had to be dealt with by the judiciary in Mexico, in spite of all the bleatings from all the bleeding hearts here. Would we in this country accept any foreign meddling in any cases here involving foreigners who were involved in alleged crimes here? I think not. We have to realise that going to another country leaves travellers subject to that country's criminal system, like it or not.

Your government can only help you so much, and then you are on your own, as it should be.

Lee where do you get your info from

1) her boss is in a US jail and they don't give lighter sentences for turning in lower down's. They give lower down people lighter sentences for ratting on higher ups. Regardless his word would get him nothing and he was convicted of being a fraud artist, a liar, his word is worth squat.

She prolonged the case by switching attorneys just as much as the mexicans did.

Many guilty people are convicted in foreign countries and a few innocent ones are too, just like canada. Guilty or innocent they all say they didn't do it.

Her family can pay the $3600 fine and have her back today according to the fiberals.
wayne, 2008-04-25 13:08:28

Ya i loved that story and the fiberals jumping all over it. Apperently the mexicans told the fiberals she could be home today if the fine was paid but they didn't tell the governmnet that. Also if this is true her freinds and family want her back so much they won't pay the $3600 fine. apperently its also the taxpayers fault again. anything to sell a paper.

My reaction?

I'm embarrased by the number of people who just can't accept this woman was convicted of a crime.

Women can commit crimes too.

I am so sick of hearing about this woman. I am of course, feeling for the fact that she feels that she is in dire straits; however, in light of the recent CONVICTION, it seems to me that Brenda Martin and her parties should just take the time to realize that she is GUILTY, and therefore no longer subject to the province's money, especially to "extradite" her back to Ontario. The court has had its say.

There are far more worthy causes: as far as I can see, working at a hospital every day, the healthcare crunch that reporters like to make headlines about; FYI in our hospital at present there are 4 people waiting for a bed, and three of them are fighting cancer. Priorities, perhaps?

What happened to common sense?

Get real, people. Let's not waste any more time, headlines, money or effort on this convicted criminal.

I can't beleive all the negative comments about brenda Martin...I say bring here back to Canada and do an investigation of our own....if she's found guilty then she does time here. We all hear horror stories about Canadians going to other countries and being wrongfully accused....it happens frequently. Anyone that doesn't want to support Brenda Martin should quit wasting their time bitching and complaining and go play with your children....you never know....someday it could be one of your family members sitting in a foriegn prison....what kind of help would you want then....or would your family memeber be "

innocent"
Lee, 2008-04-25 02:35:45

Please get brenda Martin home safely and quickly. This woman should not have to spend another minute in that jail. Her boss could have probably gotten a lighter sentence had he implicated her....but he didn't so that tells me that she is innocent. Most people will roll on another to save their own ass and again....he didn't. I beleieve she's innocent and she has spent way too much time waiting to go to trial to prove her innocence. Free brenda Nartin ASAP......Please.
