Everyone who comes across the appalling story of the plight of Canadian Brenda Martin's incarceration for two years in a Mexican jail, should be writing or emailing Helena Guergis, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs in Ottawa, to ask her to get off her Tory butt and do something about this outrage. An innocent woman's life is at stake. Guergis had even refused to take a phone call from Martin. This is a disgrace. Only ordinary citizens like us may be able to save Brenda now. We also need to start an official boycott of Mexico.

The Canadian government should definately be doing more to help Brenda Martin. It appears the government doesn't want to get involved in any big way and are simnply giving lip service to the public's call for them to intervene. We travel to Mexico every year, but now we are considering going somewhere else in protest to this inhumane treatment of a Canadian citizen. Mexico stands to lose a lot of tourism over this.

I feel very sorry for Brenda...I have a hard time beliving all these powerful and rich Canadian politicians can't get her out of jail in Mexico. I am a female and the last lace i will ever travel to is Mexico...Beautiful country, lousy legal system. Mexico wants tourist money, any one of us can be Brenda...Mr. Harper grow some balls and get this woman home.

Everyone should make sure to tell all your friends - use Facebook, MySpace, etc. Let everyone know about this and maybe people will travel elsewhere. I have NO intention of going to Mexico, especially now. Too many horror stories from that country for me.

I haven't heard anyone here cry about that poor lady that was placed in a prison cell and locked away for four days without food or water.

One has to ask what kind of prison would do such a horrible thing. It must be another Mexican jail perhaps? Nope. Good old American justice system in the state of Ark. So it proves the USA has a 3rd world prison system. Brenda's lucky to be in a Meixcan prison system where medical aid is provided. They don't have that in Fayetteville, Ark.
