The fairest place in the workd to get a trial is the US. It was created on that. Do you think he would get a fairer one in afganastan where the crime took place. His lawyer certainly isn't pushing for it, in fact his lawyer is just delaying it because he doesn't want a fair trial. The terrorist tactic of picking canada as a safe haven has backfired in this case. If he hadn't claimed canadian citenship he would have been a child soldier and probably would have been forced to be released but he is just a simple criminal now.

Actually there has never been any proof.
All they were going by was the lie that because Omar was the only person alive in that room, that meant he was the only one who could have thrown it.
But several months ago the Pentagon mistakenly released info to reporters that indeed there was a second person alive. The Americans deliberatly sat on that info as it would has destroyed their case against Omar.
With the release of that info, there case against Omar went up in smoke.
Only one person will ever know if Omar threw the grenade or not. And that person is Omar.
This is why Omar is not and will not go on trial for murder by the Americans.
And he will come back to his home country, Canada

All I'm saying Penny, is that in the rush to proof him guilty, let's not get caught up in the same hyperpole to say he's innocent. The other opinion from a poster jsut seems to think that he should be released based only on the fact he is Canadian.

Did he throw the grenade on american soil? Is there proof he threw a grende at all ? Have the amercians been told this guy threw it? Is there not a campaign going on glorifying what "our brave" soldiers are doing over there, that by disagreeing with the whole mess you are a traitor. Have we just learned that that there is no real proof and the americans should be embarassed? Now how on earth is this young man supposed to get a fair trial in the states. When twit pie gives something he states as fact. we try to find it somewhere on the internet and can't. we ask him to provide a reference and his answer is its a fact or he puts quotes around something. It means it isn't true. He makes grand statements that would be huge headlines but yet they aren't anywhere to be found.
