Vic Toews says public safety trumps the speedy return of convicted terrorist and murderer Omar Khadr to Canada.
The same cant be said though for the American government.
He was in Afghanistan doing what he thought was right, defending Afghans from the occupying Americans, who have inflicted far more suffering on the Afghan people than the American supported Taliban ever did.
Seems warmongering right wingers can say it is OK for Canadian soldiers to watch little boys being raped and say or do nothing while supposedly making their lives better.

He cannot be reintegrated without changing who he is into something he is not. That would be an invasion of his right to self determine. Is it right to bring him to Canada and subject him to brainwashing or reprogramming? He doesn't want our way of life. Its pretty obvious using your own thinking that he should be left to rot in prison, or send him back where he was injured.
The soldiers that captured him gave him a life sentence rather than killing him on the battle field when they were in the best position to tell if he was a combattant. I won't second guess them. Nor should you! You armchair lawyers haven't made this world a safer place with your foolish ideals. Any one suggesting we give a known terrorist big money should be arrested!

If we were to give Khadr (yes, I will appologize for my "thing" comment) a huge sum of money, where would it come from? I guess projects like culture, heritage, or your favorite--the environment, would have to suffer because we keep surrendering to terrorists.

now thats supposed to be a joke right?

What normal Canadian wants this traitor back into our society?
The answer is simple, zippo. He is a terrorist supported by his terrorist family who are using Canada and its good standing in the world to hide behind.
Redneck Larry, 2009-02-10 11:53:06
Screw him and his Al Qaeda family.
uplink, 2009-02-10 11:36:22
I am sick and tired of Canada coddling terrorists, maybe we should cut him a cheque for $10 Million for his troubles, lawyer fees, travel costs and call it a day.
I am angry dammit, bringing this traitor back to Canada is a slap in the face to all our military personell fighting in Afghanistan.
Karma, 2009-02-10 11:35:51
He is a living breathing human being, fellow Canadian who had his youth stolen from him.
tweetypie, 2009-02-10 11:28:43
He's no Canadian, and the losers everywhere who want this POS in Canada are so poorly informed they are dangerous themselves.
The Khadr family should be under constant scrutiny by CSIS and the US.
Hammertime, 2009-02-10 11:13:04
He will inevetiably be brought back into the "fold" and maybe accomplish what he didn't fulfil in his last quest.
I, for one, do not want to see individuals such as this returned to Canada. He should have been dealt with by the USA.
