The police should be investigated!

I feel so bad for this lady and what she has been through-no parent should ever have to endure this!

The death penality should be used in certain cases!

Plain and simple.... these two sick bastards are pieces of garbage.... well, to hell with the bleeding hearts; time to take the garbage out!

This is hard for me to say because I usually stick up for the police as it's because of them I can live in relative safety, but they really screwed up on this one. This was chauvinism and discrimination at its best. Why was Tara suspected and not Rodney? Rodney has no perfect past either but he was sure made out to be the caring father and all around good guy. And Tara's addiction to Oxycontin has nothing to do with this. Tori's brother was subjected to what amounts to intimidation and bullying by police - you don't question a kid alone. Every one of these police officers should be fired, and for once, they should not be investigating themselves. They are a disgrace to all the good cops out there. No one has the right to tell another person how to behave when they're upset. And the stupid media shares all the blame, sucking up to Rodney and vilifying Tara. And all of you sheep who were so busy congratulating Rodney for trying to turn his life around while blaming Tara are just as guilty of sexism and discrimination, and allowing bad and irresponsible behaviour by boys and men. I can't wait to accuse you when you don't act the way I think you should and see how you like it.

NEVER trust police. NEVER talk to them without a lawyer. This doesn't mean they shouldn't be supported, but it's their job to get you to give up your rights. Most of them don't DESERVE to be trusted anyways!

First and foremost my condolences to the family. This should never happen to any child nor should any parent. My prayers and thoughts go out to you but I fear will bring you little solace during these times.

Secondly I pray there is a public inquiry in they the OPP mishandled this case from day one. They had a description of Tori, she was only 8 years old, would any one truly have rediculed the OPP if they had found her safe and sound after putting out an amber alert.

Our children deserve better protection than this.

And how could the OPP turn down the RCMP's offer for help. Be damned with their egos this was an 8 year old child. Every resource available should have been used.

"Thomas Rafferty supposedly likes rough sex...Well see how much he likes it in prison... "

Let's see if he really is guilty first, but yeah, he deserves everything he gets in GP. However, like bernardo and homolka you and I will be paying hundreds of thousands of dollars to keep the scum in protective custody. So he will get free internet, free university education, free legal assistance, free health care, free room and board in a secure facility with personal guards and, thanks to the efforts of various politicians (can't recall the woman's name offhand) he can enjoy free internet porn anytime he wants - on our dime.

Welcome to Canadian "justice".

If found guilty beyond a reasonnable doubt no punishment can be severe enough. I pray the police do not bongle the case, that there is no plea bargain and that we send a message that we stand to protect the young, the weak or the vulnerable in our society. Death would be too swift and kind. Guantanamo would be fitting!

Yup, the sob stories are in full swing and next we will get the inevitable psycho-babble about how this young woman needs to be saved, most especially from those of us who are monsterous enough to believe capital punishment is a responsible choice under certain very specific circumstances. We will now be told how horrible we are for wanting to dehumanize and exact revenge on these poor innocent vicitms of society. And we will be admonished by "experts" (meaning: people who have never left the cushy environs of inner-acedemia long enough to get a clue) about how terrible we are for wanting a punishment to fit the crime. Rubbish. Give them a fair trial. If they are guilty give them all the mercy they showed that innocent little girl.

I am angry that your web-site is publishing this as "news". This is making an incredibly tragic story worse. Think of the effect on the family when seeing these comments!! "liked bondage and rough sex" ???? Is this news?
