Do you think high oil prices will bring new jobs?
Sun, June 7, 2009

According to Jeff Rubin, former chief economist of CIBC World Markets, when the price of a barrel of oil soars into triple digits, everything from travel to food to cars will be much more expensive leaving cities no choice but to start producing locally.

It also means North Americans will no longer be able to afford to operate SUVs, or travel to Europe, or get reasonably priced running shoes that were made in China. Instead, people will take public transit, travel abroad less frequently and grow food locally.

Perhaps but not in the sense of sustainable income for the masses;

Slave’s oil production in the earth is repetitive, in simple terms the earth produces oil as a natural process.

I have worked in the oil industry for 25 years and have witnessed these phenomena first hand, I know it is true and factual; I have made a very comfortable living based on the science behind the theory.

I realize this is a difficult proposition for you SLAVES to grasp, but it is true nonetheless, do a little research and the TRUTH can be revealed even to such as you.

You are being lied to.

Wake up SLAVES!!

Gas pump prices show the profit from pumping gas. All of the gas companies make money from exploration, refining and production of gas and oil. The profits from these activities are buried in crude costs.

Not to sure about he job situation but it has curtailed our vacation plans.

yes.. of course it brings new jobs....

were they need to be.

In western Canada... who cares about the auto-industry

They have been making crap for 40 years... let em' rot.

Daniel what stickers do you read. It has a clear profit percentage right on it.

A. Higher oil prices simply allow oil companies to make higher profits. There current stickers on the pump are ridiculous because the stickers suggest that oil companies don't make a profit on crude.

B. To create more jobs we need more industrial activity, higher energy costs are a barrier to more industrial activity. (Making solor generators is an industrial activity!)

C. Higher energy costs according to oil companies are supposed to have something to do with supply and demand but this myth was exploded by the American congress. Too bad nobody did anything to change things.

D. Notice how we don't seem to be able to get the manufacturers recommended gas mileage from our cars anymore (even if the cars run on the highway on cruise control!) High energy costs aren't making the gas any better. Gas companies are just charging us for putting stuff other than gas in the gas!

Your right, the arms race was probably the biggest factor.

So much money and time, was wasted on both sides.

Penny, 2009-06-12 20:58:46

actually penny it was the arms race that destroyed them.

Oh ya great prediction, until they actually collapse we don't know. It could take a million years penny. It won't happen in your lifetime.
wayne, 2009-06-12 14:24:29

Soviet socialism and economy collapsed because the Russians were trying to maintain the arms race with the U.S. which put them so deep in debt they couldn't get out. That is an economic fact.

The only thing they have in common is the current one does have military connection, that if the U.S. wasn't involved in 2 wars with another waiting in the wings (Norh Korea)the economy wouldn't be so bad. But as recent indicators have shown we are slowly crawling out of it.

Under extreme communism not because they had a few socialised programs.

The mess in the States and in other countries is still in progress, the outcome unknown.
