Absolutely Yes.

Politician's choose to be in the public eye, no one asked them to take the high profile/ high paying position.

Don't like the attention?

Leave.

oops I forgot to post the source in my last post

When politicians spew more lies than truths, what should we do ?

ROB FORD SAYS: “The last thing we want to do is lay off, Johnny, but when [payroll] makes up 80 per cent of your budget, there’s a lot of gravy there.”

THE TRUTH: Labour costs account for 48 per cent of the city’s budget.

ROB FORD SAYS: In his first six months in office, “We have saved over $70-million… And so if we can find 70 million, I’m sure we can find 700 million”

THE TRUTH: $64 million of that money was not cut from spending, as Ford seems to claim, but cut from revenue, in the form of the elimination of the Vehicle Registration Tax. This does not save the city money, it costs the city money—the exact opposite of his claim.

DOUG FORD SAYS: “I’ve got more libraries in my area than I have Tim Hortons.”

THE TRUTH: Tim Hortons franchises outnumber public libraries in Etobicoke—where Doug Ford lives—by a margin of three to one. There are 13 public libraries in Etobicoke, and 39 Tim Hortons franchises.

DOUG FORD SAYS: “We have more libraries per person than any other city in the world.”

THE TRUTH: Vermont has more than seven times as many libraries per capita as Toronto. Halifax has 4.3 libraries per 100,000 people, while Toronto has 3.9.

ROB FORD SAYS: “In business the first thing you look at is the labour. Your labour should be making up maximum 20 per cent…”

THE TRUTH: The ideal labour cost as a percentage of total spending varies wildly depending on the industry the company is operating in. As KPMG—a consulting firm Ford presumably trusts, since he hired them to investigate the city’s spending—notes in their Competitive Alternatives study, “For manufacturing operations, labor typically represents 46 to 60 percent of total location-sensitive costs, while for non-manufacturing operations this range is typically 74 to 85 percent.” Meanwhile, in the construction equipment industry, in 2008 average payroll costs were about 58 per cent, according to this report. Second Wind consultants say that a lot varies by industry, but that 30-38 per cent of revenue is “a good place to be.” Apparently celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay says restaurants should aim to have labour costs be about 1/3 of the total budget.

The Fords, truly speak to average Canadians. How sad.

The tribal lords who have set themselves up as kings and princes in the middle east did not get there by being honest nor by popular vote.

Murder and undercover tactics were the tale of the day and usually with American or British armaments with the promise of oil as a reward...????

Kind of makes one wonder of Alberta??????

Ever hear the real life story of the Kennedy clan. It was on CBC a month or so back.

Rum runners are not different than the cocaine smugglers of today. Many people seemed to just dissapear...??? Marilyn Monroe...wonder why she died. Drug overdose or knowing to much. Has been wondered before. The children of these drug clans are going to be rich not different than the Kennedy,s , Rockerfellers who was prominent with inside trading in oil stocks as well as probably many others.

We seem not to learn much from history. Nobody rich or wealthy got there honestly including the Royal family. Murder , sex and horrid rape of people and lands.

Seems the norm for all the world including Canada.
Ron Glynn, 2011-06-17 10:44:30

just look at the life of edward Kennedy. the senator that womanized, killed one and covered it up but he was a god in US politics, elected over and over again.

We have the same sick people right here in Canada. How many church leaders have been prosecuted and accused of sexual devency. How many school teachers have been accused and found guilty of the same thing. Boy scout leaders , camp leaders ..the list never ends. Neighbours trying to get into bed with their friends wives when they are away.

We as Canadians are not different. i am sure there is the same thing going on in Ottawa as in the USA. Just covered up better.

Monkeys have sex with all males when they come in heat. Humans seem the same. Are we any different or are our genes just doing what they are supposed to. Creation by some ''clean god' or just adaptaion with genetic impulses not changing.

we are all animals some sicker than others.

i say bring back the lash for political and religious and any one in athourity who condones such actions. A hundred good ones across a bare butt each time and in a public square where all can see.

The US is the strangest country on the face of the earth on certain things. How much porn does the US produce and explicit and violent movies? And, as wayne stated, politicians cheat on their wives, etc. and don't resign. Now this Weiner guy just sends tweets or whatever they're called, and he's pressured to resign. I'm about ethics, but compared to some things that go on, this guy didn't really do that much of any significance.
Gordon, 2011-06-16 17:34:30

what a backwards country. They have politicians that cheat on their wives, steal from the government, lie etc but they never resign. Then a guy sends text messages and a picture in his underwear and everyone wants him axed. What a joke.
wayne, 2011-06-16 12:34:45

This Weiners political future is cooked and nobody wants him since he has tainted himself. Perhaps his stint in rehab will wake his mind and bring back some common sense which will tell him to resign.

The media didn't go looking for sexual escapades of Mr. Weiner, he sent it via text messaging and committed political suicide via Blackberry so he is fair game to the media.
