Are Canadian drivers getting worse? Tue, October 11, 2011
A teenager who bragged online about driving through a residential neighbourhood at more than 100 km/h over the speed limit was convicted of careless driving.
The hippy boomers were promised by the banana splits that they could load up and drive like maniacs the rest of their lives.

Amazing... everyone here is talking about all those terrible drivers out there, and how the outnumber the good ones...
and not a single one of you has called themselves a bad driver. The odds aren't that good.

Mrs-Brigand "Jay. Signs mean nothing to a lot of people. The sign says STOP but I doubt you come to a complete stop at every sign. Most people dont"

Very true, hence my "It didn't have a tremendous impact, but the difference is notable." It doesn't work on everyone, just today I was stuck behind a car driving 90 in the fast lane with no car in front of her for a good kilometre, but most drivers are selfish and oblivious, so the signs are guaranteed to only have minimal impact, but it is nice seeing someone doing 105 in the left lane proactively move over when they see other cars coming up behind them at 120.

"One for the road" used to be the standard. In my experience I never saw ANYONE leave after that..it was usually a couple more.
In case you are wondering if I participate...We have NEVER owned a car..they are just a poor investment. I did, for a short time, ride a motorcyle, hammered, which is equally as stupid but I am happy to state that I NEVER had a passanger and I smartened up after 1 year and claimed no causulties except for my own asphalt burns on elbows and kness..through leather jacket and pants. YEEHAA.

I wrote to my MP about two years ago about the fact that the highway going across Ottawa didn't have "slow traffic keep right" signs, which are visible when you drive through Toronto and Montreal.
Now if you drive through Ottawa you'll notice them on many onramps. It didn't have a tremendous impact, but the difference is notable.

Drivers and idiotic skills are not different than when I was learning to drive back in the late sixty era. In fact it was worse back then as drunk driving was not a horrible crime and everyone did it. Racing was as common as five in the front of a pickup.
Loaded cars were the norm. Speeding was a disease.
Police were as rare as they are today. Only difference is that the population has grown tenfold and the complete lack of disipline amongst todays drivers leads to road rage and multiple actions caused directly by parants who did not teach to their children the principles of life and now these children have children of their own with no idea of self disipline. Hense we see road rage and temper tantrums causing untold carnage on our roads,
Again we can blame ourselves for not teaching our own children properly. Golf and the bar and fishing are far to important and now we pay the price.

Everything is getting WORSE in this country. You would have to be deaf, blind and dumb or liberal to not be aware. Its also going to get WORSE.

Nope. Cars are getting safer so natural selection isn't what it used to be.
